I largely agree, however it’s possible for a ball mark on clay to be misleading. The impact of the ball at high velocity can cause clay to spread out beyond the exact point of contact with the ground. This can, for example, result in a ball mark that appears to touch the line when the ball didn’t.

This video was made by Hawkeye who obviously have an agenda, but I’ve seen similar ones from less biased sources:

Ball marks may still be more accurate than the technology even despite this, I just wanted to point out that ball marks have issues too.

Tony: Agree, everything has an error but in this case, the mark on the ground is as close to the "truth" as you can get.

For me, the troubling message is that of people using technology to suffocate dissent. I'd be fine if technology vendors open up their black box so that the decisions made by the tech can be challenged; they don't like that, they typically just take away the right to challenge.
