Mollom is fantastic, I haven't seen a spam comment in months and was able to turn off CAPTCHAs completely. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a typepad plugin. Perhaps there's a plugin for Akismet? That's another service that's pretty good.
Another simple thing to do that I have found to reduce spam a lot was to turn off comments on older posts. That gives the spam scripts fewer points to attack.

I hate it when bloggers turn off comments on older posts.

Akismet for WordPress is awesome. I don't need any captchas or anything to screen out machines.
You ought to see whether Akismet has a plugin for TypePad.

Agree with Jon Peltier 100%. Akismet catches all spam, which opens up your blog posts to one and all w/o signons of captchas. Alas, there doesn't seem to be an Akismet for Typepad. But there is Typepad antispam. Seems to have received favorable reviews at, http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/05/29/typepad-antispam-a-new-open-source-comment-spam-fighter/

I had the same problem as you, and unfortunately the only solution I found was to migrate to WordPress. Which didn't hurt nearly as much as I expected...

I am also using wordpress from long time. It is web software you can use to create a beautiful website or blog. We like to say that WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time.

Yes. Completely agree. When I first started working in race cars it was with the intention of becoming a better automotive journalist. The deeper I got into it, however, the more I realized that the interesting part was not talking (or writing) about racing but racing itself. And I never went back to journalism.
